Introduction
Wootton Upper School has long had an enviable reputation for great academic outcomes, performing arts excellence and sporting successes, and now is a particularly exciting time for us: we celebrate our 50th anniversary in September 2025 and turning secondary in September 2026.
Our aim is simple: to be a superb school with great outcomes for all students, enabled by a high-performing, happy staff body, and a reputation as a great place to learn and work.
The school motto is “the pursuit of excellence” and it is with this in mind that we are building a strong culture based on great attendance and behaviour. This is because we know that students do best when they are here every day, on time, and go about their learning in an orderly and organised way.
Keeping them safe, happy and healthy is vital – we are an inclusive school, and believe that if we get things right, every student can achieve both academically and personally.
And so as well as our strong and positive culture, we are developing a curriculum that is ambitious and knowledge-rich, that recognises the importance of subject disciplines, and immerses students in the best that has been thought and said. Deciding what to teach and how and when to teach it is one of the most important things our expert teachers have to do, and we take this very seriously.
We are also working hard to grow the range and reach of our extra-curricular offer for students, through showcases and performances, trips and expeditions, fixtures, clubs, volunteering, work experience and leadership roles.
We intend to be one of the very best schools in the country within a few years and know that we will only achieve this by working closely with families and the wider community. We know we won’t get everything right, and so we work with humility as well as hope, and where we get things wrong, we try to put it right.
We hope you find the things you need on our website, and if you want any further information, don’t hesitate to get in touch to find out more
